A sports car, naturally.

What do we at Porsche think of when we look to tomorrow? Sports cars, naturally. Our Mission Future Sports Car. But we also look for sustainable mobility, and consider trends for digitization and urbanization. Because in the future our sports cars will tackle these routes too – in pole position – bringing new technologies from the race track to the road.

With Concept Study Mission E we take our next step towards the future. With an all-electric sports car that defines our vision of e-mobility. The time is ripe for this study. It shows that, in addition to our plug-in hybrids, all-electric drive systems can truly meet our standards of intelligent performance. For us, this declaration is distilled into one clear philosophy: Porsche E-Performance.

Our Concept Study Mission E is still just an idea but it embodies our complete vision of all-electric driving. Four individual seats, four doors, two luggage compartments. Electric drive. E-Performance, Porsche style. Integrated in a harmonious overall concept. Concept Study Mission E sets the stage for tomorrow. With its design and its technology, it provides answers to the question of the sports car of the future.

Porsche DNA. No doubt.

Compact electric motors, no combustion engine, no exhaust system, no transmission tunnel. Plenty of opportunities to question and rethink previous forms. With this concept car we are exploring the limits. Such as the harmonious combination of typical Porsche shapes with aerodynamics inspired by motor sports. Result: a flow-through body, totally geared to performance.

So the future of the sports car looks highly promising. You might even say electrifying.

The front.

The front, with its extremely flat hood section, clearly shows the familial ties to the Porsche 918 Spyder super sports car. A stylistic and technical highlight of the front is the Matrix LED headlight units with integrated sensors for the assistance systems.

The rear.

Also from the back, Concept Study Mission E is immediately recognizable as a Porsche. The rear design combines a continuous light strip in sophisticated black glass finish, with functional elements picking up the flow-through theme. The vehicle cabin tapers towards the rear, giving way to prominent rear fenders.

Exterior mirrors. Without mirrors.

The virtual exterior mirrors are eye-catchers in the truest sense of the word: images from these cameras are reflected in the lower windshield corners. In this way the driver has a better view of the images as well as the surrounding area. Additionally, augmented safety information can be actively displayed here.

In the Concept Study Mission E, principles come to bear which have actually been intrinsic to every Porsche since the birth of the 356 in 1948: lightness, openness, purism, clear architecture, driver-orientation and day-to-day usability.

The all-electric drive concept allows an entirely new interpretation of these principles. For example, the absence of a transmission tunnel opens up cabin space and imparts a lighter, more generously proportioned ambient feeling. The four individual seats are inspired by bucket-type racing seats, thus saving weight and giving all passengers the appropriate lateral support to match the driving dynamics of the car.

The experimental and entirely driver-oriented interface of Concept Study Mission E points the way to the future, with intelligent interaction between the real and virtual worlds. Intuitive, fast, distraction-free – undeniably sports car.

The filigree driver’s display is curved, inclined, detached and freely programmable. Its cluster features five round instruments – distinctively Porsche, yet virtually displayed in OLED technology. They are assigned to the driver-relevant function categories Porsche Connect, Performance, Drive, Energy and Sport Chrono.
